FAQs

Q: Why should I hire someone to edit my business documents? I can have someone do that in-house.

A: This is true, you could have someone edit your documents in-house. However, that person may not be trained in reading and writing. My educational background (see “About” link) has made me adept at both. I know how to scrutinize a document, pick out every possible flaw and exception, and turn it into something professional and accessible.

This is all I do. Your staff are most likely juggling more than one task at once: editing a document while answering the phone, and then dashing off to a meeting upstairs, and then to another meeting over lunch. I work on your project, and only your project, until the work is done. Plus, having the perspective of a third party, a fresh pair of eyes, to look at your materials means that I can catch things that would otherwise be overlooked by someone too close to the document who sees it many many times.

Q: How does the process work?

A: Once you’ve decided you want me to write and/or edit your materials, we would then discuss rates and I would provide you with an estimate. If the estimate is satisfactory, I would begin working on your materials. Once I have completed the work I will send it back to you. I can send documents via e-mail or snail mail depending on the work. If the copy is for a Web site I would write directly to the site with the understanding that the content would have to meet with your approval and until such time would be subject to change.

Q: What’s your turnaround like?

A: How quickly I get the materials completed depends on the size of the project. Once I know how small or large a project is, I will be able to give you an estimate as to when I can have it done.

Q: Do you have a confidentiality policy?

A: I automatically assume full confidentiality standards. I would also be happy to sign a confidentiality agreement if you prefer.

Q: Do you work in any other languages?

A: At the moment I only speak English, but I am more than willing to work with a translator to ensure that a document is smoothly translated into English.
